I was sorry to miss celebrating All Saints Day at church yesterday. It is a powerful service, with a message of comfort and hope.
From this week's note from the pastor:
The roll call was long yesterday and when most of those names were called, I still couldn't quite believe they were gone. Except that they are not really gone. Though we grieve deeply (and rightly so!) when our friends and loved ones die, in Jesus Christ our earthly death is not the end. God's true story assures us that God has conquered the evils of death and sin. It is good, even essential, in the face of grief to proclaim this truth time and again. And it is good to lean on and pray for each other in our times of sadness, until one day we are with Jesus and each other again.
